Looking for extra cash? Trying to find a reliable second income while keeping flexible work hours?

Read on to see if delivery is for you, what you can do to save time starting, and how multi-apping is crucial to success.

Enter the Delivery Apps

An absolute explosion of gig based apps over the past few years has given Americans more options now than ever before to earn more on their terms. And at the center of this revolution in work lies Delivery Apps. Delivering food, groceries, packages, medicine, and more, there's now an app for everything, and there's a good chance you've heard of the big ones: Roadie, Shipt, Instacart, DoorDash, UberEats, Grubhub, and GoPuff, just to name a few.

And the best part is that almost anyone can deliver. All you need is a phone, transportation, and a clean criminal record. Not bad, huh?

How Much Do I Earn?

There are three main factors that determine how much you earn.

  1. Your experience level. Talk to any delivery driver and they'll often say it took a few weeks for them to get their sea legs. It takes time to know your market, and it's the little things like knowing where to fish, how to cherry pick trips, and when demand peaks that determine how much you earn.
  2. How many apps you run. This one isn't rocket science. Although there are some who are loyal to a single app, for folks following the cold hard cash we recommend applying for and using as many apps as possible. Although the pay from any single app is often not enough, bundled together they can keep a steady stream of work coming your way. #Multiapping
  3. How skilled you are at stacking. Technically this one falls under #1, but it's so important it gets its own bullet point. Stacking is when you take on multiple trips at the same time. For example, you're on your way to deliver Chipotle with DoorDash when you accept a Grubhub ping that fits nicely into where you were already headed. That's stacking, and it's the quickest (and riskiest) way to boost your earnings from something like $15-20/hr to something like $30/hr. So, just how much can you earn working delivery? It varies greatly between deliverers, and a lot of it is up to you.

We've seen it vary from $0/hr. for single-apping newbies in slow zones to upwards of $40/hour for those multi-apping and stacking geniuses who really know their market (with some tip luck added in).

*Side Note* Remember, this is all before expenses!

How Do I Get Started?

1. Sign Up

Signing up for all these apps used to be quite the hassle, entering your personal information over and over again to sign up for them all. If you're a glutton for punishment, we've attached some of the links at the end of this article.

But if you'd like to keep your applications fast and simple then simply create a Para Profile to instantly apply to several major apps like DoorDash, Grubhub, UberEats, Postmates, etc.

2. Learn Some Before You Start

The best way to learn is by doing, but it's not a bad idea to watch some videos and read some articles before you begin. Starting can be stressful, and many deliverers stop after only a few lackluster days because they get discouraged.

So grab some popcorn, kick back, and browse YouTube's best content for learning how to deliver. Double speed, anyone?

3. Start

Learning the ropes and becoming a pro takes time, so consider starting off by focusing on one app at a time before tackling multi-apping and stacking your delivery trips.
